File your tax return early

File your tax return early

Beat the rush
Yes, you can do your tax return early - as soon as the tax year ends (for 2020/21 - anytime between 06 April 2021 and 31 January 2022).
You can submit your tax return at a time that suits you. Mothern Accountants can help you prepare and file your account.
Early filing has some benefits: Peace of mind, Payment planning opportunity, Early tax refund (if HMRC owes you)

Did you receive Furlough or SEISS grant?
You will need to include details of all the taxable Coronavirus support scheme payments you received during 2020 to 2021 tax year.
Employed and received CJRS (furlough)? - enter earnings and income tax as stated on your P60.
Self-employed and received SEISS? - declare any financial support using form SA103S or SA103F (if turnover was above VAT threshold)

Tax bill and Payment on Account
Deadline for filing and paying any tax due is 31 January 2022. You can arrange payment plan to help you spread the payment in instalments.
If your income is lower for 2020/21 tax year, perhaps due to loss of earnings due to COVID-19, you can reduce your tax bill due by 31 July 2021.
If you have overpaid tax during the tax year, you can claim a tax refund (HMRC will usually automatically process your refund)
